Continue reading »]]> Project construction began in the fall of 2005 and was completed in the summer of 2007, ahead of schedule and within budget.

Long Island cable installation along the Wantagh Parkway began in October 2005 and finished in early 2007, including connection of the cable from the ocean to the land. Landscape restoration along the Wantagh Parkway followed cable installation. Cable installation was performed under the oversight of the New York State Department of Transportation.

The underwater cable installation was accomplished in two separate campaigns. The first was in New Jersey waters, traversing 25 miles through Ambrose Channel, Raritan Bay, and the Raritan River, to the Sayreville, New Jersey Converter Station landfall, between September and November 2006.  The second campaign was in New York waters, traversing 26 miles from the New Jersey/New York ocean border proceeding east to Jones Beach, commencing in November 2006 and finishing in early 2007.
